We have been continuing our work in proportional relationships and are now graphing these relationships on the coordinate plane. Students only new MJ2 homework has been from their Eureka workbook page S.20 as we have been wrapping up grades for this 9 week term and PSAT testing. 

Students should still be working in i-Ready on a regular basis (1-2 hours per week/2 lessons passed per week).

No new homework. 'A' day quiz was postponed due to PSAT testing. It will be on Monday. We will begin our next lesson on radicals tomorrow. Homework is in Math XL but the due dates will change due to falling behind schedule.

Students should complete all lessons in Digits that are past due and continue to work in iReady. Students should have a total of 15-20 lessons passed in iReady for this grading period. Several students are far below this number. Please work on catching up before the grading period ends next Wednesday.

Algebra

Any students who missed class today will need to watch the Algebra Nation videos in Section 1 topics 1-4 and complete their workbooks.

We will begin Properties of Exponents tomorrow. The Math XL homework for this topic is posted and will be due October 18th. There will be a quiz on October 17-18 on Properties of Exponents.

I hope everyone made it through Matthew without any serious damage or hardship. I have been in the mountains without cell phone service or electricity and returned to no internet in my home either.  It came back on late this afternoon and I am working towards getting grades updated. This will probably take a couple of days. We will work this week to catch up on test recycling and students should complete all late homework by Friday. We have only one more week in the grading period. Students, please check Focus and make sure you complete any work with zeros and let me know when you do so I can update the grade book.

Any Algebra students that were absent on Wednesday should watch the Algebra Nation videos in Topic 1 sections 1-4.

MJ2 students should have at least 20 lessons passed in iReady.

MATH XL HAS BEEN DOWN FOR 2 DAYS. I am also unable to access this software. Therefore, lesson 2-4 homework will be the Lesson Check on page 105. Please complete #1 - 9. There will be a quiz after we complete lesson 2-5. Prior assignments may be completed without penalty when we can access Math XL again.

Our Topic 1 Test was today. Student that wish to improve their grade should plan to stay after school on Thursday to complete test corrections on the problems they missed. A second date will be added next week if needed.  In the meantime students should review their test and study accordingly.

Homework for tonight is i-Ready.  Students are expected to complete and pass three lessons per week in i-Ready.

AFTER SCHOOL COLLABORATION

Beginning Tuesday, August 30th students may stay after school from 3:10 until 4:00 pm to work together on homework, use a computer, or get questions answered.  Students should sign up on the sheet outside of my classroom if they plan to come and should arrive with specific questions on topics they need help with. Parents, please pick up students in front of the school at 4:00 pm.

Baseline Testing is in Progress

Baseline testing began Friday, the 19th and will continue on Monday, the 22nd for all math classes. MJ2 Students are completing the iReady diagnostic test and algebra students are completing the district baseline. We will be back on track with our lessons beginning Tuesday, the 23rd.

I'm so excited to welcome my students to this exciting new school year. I've been looking forward to meeting everyone and can't wait to get into our routines.

MJ 2 will begin this year with rational numbers (add, subtract, multiply, & divide them).  Homework will be online in Digits, which can be accessed under student software on the DCPS website. Give yourself plenty of time to get your homework completed. Do not save it until the last minute. You will run out of time. You should expect your first test to occur by the end of the 2nd week, and we will have 2 quizzes before then.

HOMEWORK:
Lesson 1-1 & 1-2 are due 8/19. I will accept late homework for half credit until 8/23.
No work will be accepted after 8/23.
